Car transport to Spain, one exceptional car at a time

Moving a car to Spain is one of the longer journeys we plan, and the distance is precisely why it rewards a considered approach. SKORTA carries one exceptional car at a time from your door in Britain to an address in Spain — Madrid, Barcelona, the Costa del Sol or anywhere between — on a single dedicated movement that never shares a deck with another vehicle.

Whether the car is joining a second home, following a relocation, or heading south for a season, the same crew stays with it from collection to delivery. No depots, no transfers, and no sub-contracting on the far side of the Channel.

A longer European leg, planned around one car

Spain sits at the far end of a run that can exceed a thousand miles from a British doorstep, and every additional mile is a reason to reduce handling rather than add it. On a shared transporter, a car bound for the Costa del Sol might be loaded and unloaded several times as other vehicles come and go along the route. SKORTA removes that entirely: your car is the only car, secured once at collection and released once at delivery.

A movement of this length is planned rather than slotted in. We agree collection and delivery windows, crossing times, and the driving hours the leg requires, so the journey is continuous and predictable. For a supercar, a classic or a prestige saloon making the trip south, certainty over the schedule matters as much as care of the paintwork.

Two routes south: the Channel and France, or the Bay of Biscay

There is more than one sensible way to reach Spain, and the right one depends on the car and the calendar. The most flexible is the short Channel crossing — Dover to Calais by ferry, or the Eurotunnel shuttle — followed by the drive down through France to the Spanish border and on to your destination. It is continuous, straightforward to schedule around, and suits deliveries to Barcelona, Madrid and the eastern coast.

The alternative is the longer sea crossing from Portsmouth or Plymouth into Santander or Bilbao, which lands the car in northern Spain and removes a large stretch of French motorway. It can mean fewer hours on the road, at the cost of a longer time at sea and sailings that run less frequently. We weigh the two against your destination and timing, and confirm the plan before collection rather than leaving it to chance.

Why enclosed earns its place on the run to Spain

Over a thousand miles of motorway, the small risks accumulate. Stone chips flung from passing traffic, baked-on insects, summer heat on paintwork and trim, sudden weather in the mountains, and the general road grime of three or four countries all conspire against a car left in the open. An enclosed trailer — sealed, weatherproof and out of sight — answers every one of them, and keeps the car private the entire way through France and Spain.

For the more valuable, more delicate or simply more discreet consignments, enclosed is the natural choice on this route, and it is what most clients moving a supercar or a concours classic will want. Where a car is robust and the priority is value, our open aluminium tilt-bed remains available at a lower cost. Either way the loading is the same: soft straps over the tyres, never across the bodywork. You can read more about how we protect high-value cars on our prestige car transport page.

Relocations, second homes and the paperwork that follows

Many of the cars we take to Spain are joining a second home or following an owner who is relocating, and the paperwork differs from a simple there-and-back movement. The international leg travels under a CMR consignment note, the standard document for cross-border road carriage, which records the consignor, the vehicle and the agreed terms of carriage. Since Brexit, a car leaving Great Britain and entering the EU is a customs matter as well as a logistical one, and it pays to have the documentation in order before the wheels turn.

If the car is being permanently imported and re-registered on Spanish plates, that registration — the matriculación, any import duty or tax, and the technical inspection — is the owner's responsibility and sits outside the transport itself. We carry the car and its transport paperwork end to end; the scope of any customs assistance we provide is [CUSTOMS BROKERAGE SCOPE TO CONFIRM]. We would rather set that expectation plainly than imply a service we have not confirmed.

One crew, no depots, a signed record at both ends

The same crew that collects your car in Britain is the crew that delivers it in Spain. There is no depot where it waits, no second driver who takes over at the border, and no local sub-contractor engaged at the far end. One movement, one point of responsibility, from your door to the address in Spain.

At collection we make a signed photographic condition report, and we repeat it at delivery, so the state of the car on arrival is documented against the state in which it left. Loading is done with soft straps over the tyres, so nothing bears on the bodywork in a way it should not. Cover for the movement is [INSURANCE COVER TO CONFIRM], and discretion is a given throughout — the car is moved quietly, out of sight, and its whereabouts are nobody else's concern.

Madrid, Barcelona, Marbella — and onward across Europe

We deliver across the mainland and to the principal destinations British owners tend to choose: Madrid and central Spain, Barcelona and the Catalan coast, and Marbella and the wider Costa del Sol, where so many second homes and winter cars are kept. Addresses further afield — Valencia, Málaga, the Andalucían interior — are planned in the same way, around the single car.

Spain is often one stop on a broader map. If your car is continuing to, or coming from, France, Monaco, Italy, Switzerland or beyond, our European car transport service plans the whole route on one movement. When you are ready to see indicative figures for your own collection and delivery points, you can get an indicative estimate in a few moments; a fixed written quotation is confirmed by the crew before collection.

How long does car transport to Spain take?

It depends on the destination, the route we choose and the schedule we agree; a delivery to northern Spain is shorter than one to the Costa del Sol. We confirm a realistic window before collection, and an indicative lead time is [LEAD TIME TO CONFIRM].

Do I need enclosed transport to Spain, or will open do?

Open transport is perfectly capable, but over a leg of a thousand miles or more, enclosed is the safer choice against stone chips, weather and heat, and it keeps the car private the whole way. Most prestige and classic owners choose enclosed for this route.

Can you move a car I am permanently relocating to Spain?

Yes. We transport the car and its CMR paperwork door to door; the Spanish registration, import taxes and inspection are the owner's responsibility, and the scope of any customs help we offer is [CUSTOMS BROKERAGE SCOPE TO CONFIRM].

Which route do you take to Spain?

Either the short Channel crossing followed by the drive through France, or the Bay of Biscay ferry into Santander or Bilbao. We choose per car and destination, and confirm the plan with you beforehand.

How much does car transport to Spain cost?

Pricing depends on your exact collection and delivery points, the trailer you choose and the timing. You can get an indicative estimate from our on-site calculator, and the crew confirms a fixed written quotation before collection.

Do you collect and deliver to the door?

Yes. The service is door to door, with the same crew from your address in Britain to the address in Spain — no depots and no changing hands along the way.

Two doors and a date. An estimate in seconds.
