A supercar is demanding to move not because it is fast, but because it sits inches off the road, carries delicate active aerodynamics and easily marked surfaces, and is, in most cases, effectively irreplaceable. Good supercar transport has little to do with horsepower and everything to do with clearance angles, loading discipline and the certainty that nothing touches the car it shouldn't.

Why supercar transport is a specialist job
Most people picture the motorway when they worry about moving a supercar. In practice, the open road is the safe part. The risk lives at the ramp and in the inches beside other vehicles — which is precisely where a general, multi-car transporter spends its day. Cars loaded onto a shared transporter are worked around one another at awkward angles, secured with ratchet straps drawn over suspension arms or wheels, and loaded and unloaded repeatedly as the route changes. Every one of those movements is a chance for a splitter to catch, a strap to slip, or a neighbouring car's fluids to drip onto paint below.
A modern supercar compounds the problem. Ground clearance is often well under 120mm, and the leading edge is a carbon splitter or a painted front lip that grounds on a standard steel ramp long before the wheels reach it. Active aero, side skirts and rear diffusers sit low and unprotected. The paint may be soft, ceramic-coated or wrapped in paint protection film, where a single stone chip or a dragged strap is a genuine and visible cost. Carbon-ceramic brakes are unforgiving when cold, and the whole car is heavier and lower than the vans and estates a general transporter is set up for.
Specialist supercar transport is simply the discipline of removing those risks one by one: the right loading geometry for a low car, restraint that never touches the body, an enclosed environment where it matters, and a crew whose entire job for that day is your car and nothing else.
Loading a low car without touching the bodywork
The single most important skill in moving a supercar is getting it on and off the trailer cleanly. The number that governs everything is the approach angle — the point at which the front lip or splitter would strike the ramp before the tyre climbs it. We load onto a bed that lays close to flat, using extended low-angle ramps and climbing boards to lengthen the transition so the nose rides over the crest with clearance to spare. Where the car has adjustable air or hydraulic suspension, it goes into its raised or front-lift setting before a wheel moves; where it doesn't, ramp geometry does the work instead.
Wherever it can, the car is driven on gently under its own power, with a spotter watching the splitter over the ramp lip. Non-runners, cars in transport mode, or anything the owner would rather not start are winched at a slow, controlled speed rather than driven. Once aboard, the car is dead straight and secured by soft straps over the tyres — wheel nets and basket straps that hold the car by its contact patches, never across the arches, arms, chassis or bodywork. Nothing is tensioned against the suspension, and nothing bears on paint or film.
It is deliberately unhurried work. A supercar that takes twenty careful minutes to load is a supercar that arrives exactly as it left. Enclosed or open: which protects a supercar best
For most supercars, most of the time, enclosed is the honest answer. An enclosed trailer is sealed, weatherproof and out of sight: no stone chips thrown up at motorway speed, no road grime, no salt in winter, and no phones pointed at the car through a service-station car park. On paint or paint protection film that took a detailer days to correct and apply, avoiding a single chip is reason enough. Enclosed also means discretion — the car simply isn't visible, and where it went is nobody's business.
An open aluminium tilt-bed still has its place. It is lighter, quicker to load, and perfectly sensible for a short, dry move, a car heading for mechanical work, or an owner for whom being unseen isn't the priority. The point is that the choice should be made on your car and your route, not on what happens to be parked outside. If the open trailer is genuinely the right call, we will say so — and quote the cheaper option, unasked.
One car, one crew, door to door
Everything above only holds if the car stays in one pair of hands. Supercars, hypercars, hybrids and track cars
The same approach carries across the range — established supercars and limited-run hypercars, prestige GTs, and the electric and hybrid performance cars now sitting alongside them. EVs and plug-in hybrids bring their own considerations: they are heavier and often lower again, they should travel with a sensible state of charge for a longer enclosed move, and many need to be placed in a transport or towing mode so the drivetrain and regenerative systems behave correctly on and off the bed. High-voltage cars are handled accordingly, calmly and by the book.
Track and competition cars are lower and more fragile still — cut ride height, aggressive aero, exposed splitters, and slick or semi-slick tyres that offer little grip when cold. These are exactly the cars where shallow-angle loading and over-tyre restraint earn their keep, and where an enclosed environment protects freshly prepared bodywork on the way to a circuit. Across Britain and into Europe
We collect and deliver anywhere it makes sense to — your home or storage, a dealer or auction house, a detailer, a circuit, or the lawn at a concours. Across the UK that is straightforward door-to-door work. Into Europe it means the same single crew taking the car cross-Channel to France, Monaco, Italy, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, the Benelux countries and beyond, without the car ever leaving the trailer at a border or changing drivers en route.
Cross-Channel movement carries real paperwork, and it is worth understanding rather than glossing over. A vehicle moved by a transporter travels under a CMR consignment note, the international document that records the car, the parties and the journey; since Brexit, movements between Great Britain and the EU also involve customs formalities, and a car heading out temporarily — to a track day or an event and back — may be better served by an ATA Carnet than a permanent export. Does a supercar really need enclosed transport?
